Inspiration: Custom Art “Guest Book”
shaynicole on Jan 25th 2010
The days of wedding guests signing their name with a fancy pen in a sadly plain pearly white silk covered “guest book” are long gone…PHEW! There are so many more personalized and fun ways for guests to leave their mark and this is one super cute idea that I came across on Green Wedding Shoes (where else!)

Anne and Wes’ Engagement Session!
shaynicole on Jan 20th 2010
Last weekend I had the absolute pleasure of photographing a very special couple…Wes is my brother-in-law and he recently proposed to his girlfriend, now fiance, Anne!! So this means that not only did I get to do a fun engagement session with them but I also get a new sister-in-law out of the deal! Anne and Wes came all the way down to Florida from New York (Wes) and Boston (Anne) to spend a long weekend with us. Wes is finishing up his last year at West Point military academy and Anne is a high school biology teacher. The story of how they met, reconnected and have come to this point is truly an incredible display of God’s timing and intervention. Graham and I cannot be prouder of them and cannot wait to celebrate their marriage this June!
As for the shoot…Anne and Wes were originally hoping to take advantage of the sunny beaches for their session but threats of rain and looming clouds forced us to Plan B….a deserted field in a neighborhood development! Both of them like to read so I knew that I wanted to somehow incorporate that into their shoot and since they were traveling to FL for their shoot but do not have history here, I wanted the shoot to really just focus on them and not on the surroundings. I decide to set up a little romantic picnic spot for the session (I mean how could it get any more romantic then being photographed by your sister in law?) and Anne and Wes trusted me (thanks Wes) and had a lot of fun with the shoot. Their love for each other is so evident and it was fun to see how much they make each other laugh! Here are a few of my favorites from their session!

and of course this being Wes…there was no shortage of laughter on the shoot.

Inspiration: Cupcake Toppers!
shaynicole on Jan 8th 2010
This post is specially dedicated to my soon to be sister-in-law Anne
So many brides are throwing out the traditional cake idea and replacing it with a more personalized (and often less expensive) dessert option. One of the most popular alternatives to the traditional cake is the cupcake and what better way to personalize your beautiful arrangement of miniature cakes then with a super fun cupcake topper or an elegant and chic cup cake wrapper! Here are just a few ideas to get you started…and make your mouth water at the same time!
These adorable floral toppers are hand made with customizable colors from Millalove on Etsy!

Cupcake wrappers are a super customizable and inexpensive way to dress up your cupcakes! Check out these and other custom wrappers by Sugar Cat Studio !

And if you still arent inspired…or at least hungry…check out these gorgeous little creations from Bev Perry, a cake designer from Australia! Her cupcakes are so intricately detailed and are almost too beautiful to eat! You can see more of her work on her blog. Image composites are from the always fabulous Green Wedding Shoes blog (also highly recommended for chic and sophisticated wedding ides!)
